Ecommerce websites
Cape Town

WooCommerce online shops for South African businesses. Local payment gateways, courier rates and proper tracking, without a monthly platform bill in dollars.

An online shop is a website
that has to earn its keep.

A brochure site can get away with being pretty. A shop cannot. Every slow page, confusing checkout and missing delivery option shows up in your sales.

oonie builds online shops on WooCommerce, the ecommerce plugin for WordPress. You own the shop, you pay in rand, and it can grow with you instead of being boxed in by a platform plan.

02Pricing

What moves the price

Online shops are quoted on scope. A short brief is enough for a fixed quote, and these are the things that change it most.

03After launch

Running costs, in the open

A shop has a few monthly costs. None of them should be a surprise.

Tell us what you sell, roughly how many products you have and how you deliver. You get a fixed quote, not an estimate that grows. For a sense of what a non-shop website costs, see website pricing.

All prices are final. oonie is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added.

Frequently asked
questions

WooCommerce or Shopify?

Both work. Shopify is quick to start but bills in US dollars, and because Shopify Payments is not available in South Africa, most local stores also pay an extra fee on every sale made through a local gateway. WooCommerce runs on WordPress: you own the site, pay in rand for hosting and plugins, and can change anything. For most South African stores with more than a handful of products, WooCommerce works out cheaper over time.

Which payment gateways can I use?

Any of the main South African gateways, including PayFast, Yoco, Ozow and Peach Payments. The right one depends on your products, your customers and the fees you are willing to pay. That choice is made with you, before the build.

How much does an online shop cost?

It is quoted on scope, because the number of products, variations and integrations changes the work more than anything else. You get a fixed quote after a short brief, so there are no surprises halfway through.

Can I manage the shop myself?

Yes. You get training on adding products, running specials, processing orders and reading your sales reports. Most owners are comfortable within a week.

What does it cost to run each month?

Hosting, any paid plugin licences, and your payment gateway's fee per transaction. A care plan keeps WooCommerce, the theme and plugins updated and backed up, which matters more for a shop than for a brochure site.
